MEISNER TECHNIQUE

Erica trained for 3 years with Scott Williams at The Impulse Company in London.  He then went on to mentor her to deliver the Impulse approach to the technique, which she has done for the past 2 years.

Erica currently teaches the Meisner technique for Impulse Company Australia.

ACTING WITH PASSION

In 2016, Erica was fortunate enough to become one of a very select few taught by American Actress and teacher, Niki Flacks, to deliver her unique ‘Acting With Passion’ actor training.

“This unique work is based on the mind/body concept that our emotions are trapped in subtle muscular tensions that cause us to feel tight onstage. Instead of “being in the moment,” we find our heads taking over with nonstop critiques and we are consumed with effort to “make things happen” – Niki Flacks.

PHYSICAL THEATRE

Erica taught Physical Theatre to the BTEC students (Units 32 & 33 – Devising and Developing Physical Theatre and Unit 50 Movement in Performance) for The NCCA and Hackney Community College.  During her time in London she also had the good fortune to train with Complicite, Fiona Watson (Tangled Feet) Neil Bettles (ThickSkin, Frantic Assembly) and [Foreign Affairs]

CIRCUS

Since discovering circus in 1997, Erica completed her BA Music Theatre training at BAPA and went on to NICA.  This lead to Little Devils Circus where she taught circus for 7 years working with children of all ages.

Erica has spent the last 4 years at The National Centre for Circus Arts in London, teaching circus (where her expertise lies particularly with young children aged 2-6yrs) ballet, contemporary, flexibility, conditioning, audition toolkit workshops and physical theatre.

Whilst teaching at the NCCA, Cirque Du Soleil asked her to become 1 of 2 UK trained practitioners to deliver and facilitate their Social Circus Training Program to other circus practitioners throughout the UK.  This program essentially trains others in leadership, communication and facilitation skills, using circus as a tool for social change, growth and development.
