What a lucky actor I am to be a part of the LaMama 50th Anniversary festival. Much like our stunning lead, Penny Larkins, as a young music theatre student I could only dream of being a part of the leading independent theatre scene in Melbourne. Whilst I’ve left my music theatre days mostly behind and lament the current state of so many actor training institutions and theatre companies in this country, I am proud and grateful for inclusion in a festival whose theatrical history and importance in the independent theatre scene is to be valued and recognised. Thank you Liz Jones for your love of our madness, Sofia Chapman for your exquisite mind and vision and my ladies – Penny Larkins, Madeline Hudson and Kate Hosking for being so bloody marvellous.
After 6 months of hard work with an incredible, talented and committed cast, BLOC’s Wicked is done and dusted. I am so proud of this show and the hard work of everyone who brought our vision to life. From the bottom of my heart, thank you to BLOC committee, the Creative Team, our incredible, talented cast and especially to David Hollywood, our director, whose vision for the show and ability to build a world so beautiful was inspirational to be a part of.
Here’s a few words from the Community…
“A well- rehearsed ensemble, who sang challenging music with accuracy, confidence and flair and who executed most creative choreography, really set the scene for the outstanding roles of the main characters. The age range on stage reflects the strength and commitment of this Company.” – Courier Review, Barb Dunlop
“The show appeals to people of all ages – with strong female leads, an engaging ensemble and choreography that is on-point.” – hello.ballarat.com, Della Vreeland

In 2016, I was equal parts humbled and thrilled to be selected by Niki Flacks (US Actress and Teacher) to teach her incredible work. I first came across her work in conjunction with my training in London with Scott Williams.
It was a true game changer in the way I accessed my ‘state of aliveness’ for stage and camera.
Acting With Passion “is based on the mind/body concept that our emotions are trapped in subtle muscular tensions that cause us to feel tight onstage. Instead of “being in the moment,” we find our heads taking over with nonstop critiques and we are consumed with effort to “make things happen” – Niki Flacks.
Many actors have described it as ‘magic’ — finally giving you access to ’emotions on cue,’ and I would certainly agree with them!
I’ll be teaching my first workshop in late January for The Impulse Company – all details available HERE.
Thrilled to be returning to the Melbourne theatre scene with Burning Deck Theatre Company for 2016’s Midsumma festival. “Untitled, or The Seat of Narcissa” is playing at La Mama from 19-31st January. From award winning writer Sofia Chapman’s Burning Deck Theatre Company, Untitled, or The Seat of Narcissa looks at the behaviour and reactions of those who entertain and enable narcissists to indulge their passions and bigotries. I’d love to see you there!
Super excited to be a part of The Act of Storytelling podcast team. I’ll be blogging every month on a topic (first up is Inspiration, followed by Health of an Artist) and hopefully, assisting you to see your world a little differently and move further forward than you were yesterday. Combining my experiences as an actress, Meisner, circus and physical teacher, life coach and healer. Click here for the recent podcast or to read the blog.
Why do I do it??
This one is EASY.
After training and working as a professional actor and circus/dance/physical theatre teacher for the past 15 years, when I discovered Meisner technique, I was filled with a sense of relief, excitement and joy that I had not had about my craft for SO many years.
Through Scott Williams’ gentle, supportive, positive guidance and detailed, simple approach, The Impulse Company training fundamentally changed me as an actor and as a person.
I no longer had the pressure to decide the best, most inventive and creative way to play something, dredge up emotions from deepest darkest somewhere and concentrate on being ‘good’. I was freed up to FEEL without needing to think about or ‘find’ it, to become aware of my impulses, feel the feelings and immediately connect with other actors.
Being trained to live truthfully, moment to moment in a state of aliveness – how could this NOT affect me as a human as well as an actor?
I was so excited and passionate about the technique – about the freedom and truth it gave to me as an actor that I wanted to learn how to share it with you.
I dream about working with actors who want to grow, deepen their experience of what they thought was possible and become the best actors and humans they can.
Before training with Scott, I gained my cert dip in Personal Performance Development coaching from The Coaching Academy (The UK’s largest, most respected life coaching training Academy) I’ve always been geared towards enabling others to reach their potential, and I’m on this discovery too. After training with Scott on the 1 year program in London in 2011, I continued to train for 2 more years, then Scott mentored me to teach his approach to Meisner technique.
I am SO excited to be able to start sharing this with you, it is a ride you will never forget.
So, I’ve made the big move back to Melbourne! I’m so excited to be here, and have started my Meisner teaching (having been mentored by the wonderful Scott Williams at The Impulse Company in London) We have expanded our border territory. You can find out more about my classes and Impulse Company Australia over on the facebook page.
